So you’re wondering, “How do I get more followers on Pinterest?” Here are some helpful tips.

Solidify your profile

Getting more followers on Pinterest should begin with solidifying your profile. Your username should match your real name or your business name. Give people a brief description of your business in the “About” section and include a link to your website. Upload a profile photo, preferably a headshot – people are much more likely to follow a real person so avoid logos or icons.

Add a Pinterest “Follow” and “Pin it” button

Adding a Pinterest button is one way to make your potential customers aware of your Pinterest presence. When you add a Pin it button you encourage your audience to pin your products on Pinterest.

Share often

The more you share and pin to your boards, the more you will increase your visibility. Your details are displayed below each pin, which allows Pinterest users to see who you are and have access to your boards. Pinterest is a highly visual platform so it is essential to pin high quality images. When you pin an image Pinterest gives you the option to follow another board with the same image. This means that the more images you pin the higher the chance that you will pin the same image of someone else. Pinterest will give others the option to follow you and allow you to increase your followers.

Crowdsource

Ask fans of your brand to pin pictures of themselves with their favorite product of yours and tag you. You can then repin those photos onto a VIP board. People like when brands interact with them in this manner and it will give a shout out to your fans while providing social proof that people really like your products.

Be active – comment often, mention others, follow people, contribute to popular boards

Go to the “Popular” feed and comment on the most popular pins. Try to comment on pins that are associated with your brand. Your comments demonstrate that you understand and care about the subject so you should avoid brief comments like “Nice pin.” Don’t comment on posts more than two to three times per day or Pinterest will mark you as spam and suspend your account. When you can, mention others in your comments or pin description and say something nice about them. This will encourage them to follow you. Make sure to contribute to popular group boards that have a large number of followers. By adding quality pins to popular boards their followers will quickly become your followers. Follow people with similar interests, then wait a few days to see if they follow you back. If they choose not to follow you, unfollow them and then repeat the process.

Create and promote popular boards

People prefer following boards on subjects they’re interested in rather than following an entire account. Make sure your most popular boards are on the top row so followers and potential followers can easily see them. Invite followers to contribute to your boards. Your board will then be displayed on their profile and they will share pins and increase your brand’s exposure.
